I got these board shorts since I needed some to wear surfing the Flow Rider simulators. In the midwest we have no ocean so check out some you tube video and laugh away friends that get a real beach. Haha. I live in Indiana and LOVE the beach and sports. These board shorts are fantastic. The waist is elastic with a ruffled like top to NOT muffin top anyone, the skinny, thicker, or curvy gals. There is a draw string to tighten up when wet OR loop a rash guard loop in front since they are front tie. The sides are soooo cute if you are just trying to cover your bottom up and keep your bottoms on yet be cute. You can't wear these solo or with panties. You MUST wear a bikini bottom under. However, these are soooo cute and so comfy, I wear them around theme parks with waterparks all day long. Totally double score. Overall comfy, works well wet/dry/surfing/sporting/casual. I am a tall skinny girl very very very hour glass. Whether a size large or small, I can't imagine this boardshort not helping EVERY female look her best. Not too short for those of us tall, or if we have some slight cellulite imperfection even. The length is perfect for all. The very stretchy elastic, ruffled top, and drawstring creates a low rise waist to flatter ANYONE that wouldn't have a gut hanging over. They won't muffin top you. In fact, for the sake of dry & WET I recommend ordering one size SMALLER than your Roxy swimwear bottom. I wear a large, and a medium needed when worn in some (wide hips here even though 5'8" and 115 lbs - yes, a large bikini needed). I wear a medium and have tried on a small which worked and didn't pinch either. It is a matter of how much I wanted the sides to be open. I recommend one side smaller than your Roxy bottoms though. I have black and coral. I want more! They are my all time favorite and I hope Roxy keeps making them! Cheers!
