Select Rider:

What is your favorite song at the moment?

Love Generation (Club Mix) by Bob Sinclair.

Where is your favorite place to vacation? Why?

Maybe Bali, it is cool. I also really love being in Europe. I feel really right and at peace here.

Do you have any special talents?

I can make chipmunk and dove sounds. I think if I practiced hard I could be a pretty good communicator with small animals!

What are the top 5 things that make you excited?

  1. Stomping a tough trick off a jump or into powder... such a good feeling.
  2. Having a good meal with good people and good conversation.
  3. The prospect of going home after a long trip and doing NOTHING for a day or two.
  4. Going some place new and seeing it for the first time.
  5. Summertime sunshine!

Bio

Known to friends as simply “Lexi,” Alexis Waite is a true free spirit who follows her gut and flies by the seat of her pants. Combining a love of powder and an aversion to over-planning, she spends her winters like a bit of a nomad—following the storm and dropping in on those competitions that strike her fancy. But don’t let this seemingly laid-back program fool you, because Lexi is, frankly, one of the busiest women we know. Yep, whether it be pumping up the progression of a terrain-park session, catching the last of a Swiss Alps storm, flying off to a ten-day meditation/wellness retreat, or submerging herself in an Italian cooking course in the hills of Tuscany, she’s always up to something.

Born and raised in Kirkland, Washington on the outskirts of Seattle, Lexi came up in the homegrown shred scene of the great northwest. She spent her junior and senior year back east at the snow-centric academy Stratton Mountain School, where she got a taste of competitive riding and the first inklings of her future as a pro. But it was back out west in park-oriented contests like the Honda Session and the X-Games, as well as in films like As If and Ro Sham Bo, that Lexi proved her professional chops. She now calls Salt Lake City home (where she lives just down the street from Roxy teammate Erin Comstock).

Skilled, stylish, and perpetually motivated, Lexi is always pushing herself and has had the injuries to prove it. There was that nasty broken eye socket, and the time she simultaneously broke both her hands at Women’s Superpark—but it was last season’s bruised heals that got her off the icy park jumps and out into the powder. This winter, she plans on stepping away from competition and really focusing on backcountry and the pursuit of powder. “It’s why I started snowboarding, and I want to get back to the basics and what makes me smile,” she says.
